Hi, sorry to revive an old thread but I just picked up some chicks from TSC and got one of these. Does anyone know which hatchery TSC sources these from? I don't see many hatcheries that stock them, as they seem to be a newer hybrid.

I got some Sapphire Sky pulleys today from TSC and was told they are using Townline hatchery. Hope that helps!

That sure does! Thanks so much. I just wanted to learn more about the breed/hybrid and I usually like to look on the hatchery's website since different stock have different qualities.

You’re very welcome! I wonder if it’s also the same as the Sapphire Olive Egger that I’ve seen elsewhere. Not sure, but might be another possible route for you. Best of luck in your search!

Just wanted to give an update on my Sapphire Sky chick in case anyone in the future sees this thread and wants to use it for reference. There isn't that much info out there on this hybrid yet.

I love her hilarious crest coming in! She is about 4 weeks now.

My sister said she looks like a sumo wrestler with a ponytail on top of her head in the last pic. Now I can't unsee it.

Haha no problem! I'm glad it's a help to you. I was trying to get some pics of her at 6 weeks yesterday but she was under a tree and now today it's rainy. I'll get some soon

Please share your experience too if you feel like it! I'd love to hear others' experiences with the breed (hybrid).

So far, I really like this pullet. She is growing up with a Light Brahma of the same age. The Brahma is much bigger and more adventurous. The Sapphire Sky is sweet, but much more skittish than her sister. She also has a much more narrow body, similar to the body type of the hatchery-quality Easter Eggers, Buff Orpingtons, and Golden Comets I've had. That tells me she is likely bred to be a good egg-layer primarily. I hope she is also hardy to winters and doesn't have some of the reproductive issues some of my best layers have had later in life. But to keep it positive, I think she's a great chick so far! I'm excited to see what she looks like as a hen.
