I noticed that she was moving her mouth weird. But still eating and drinking. Laying eggs. No canker in her throat. Found wound under her tongue. Was able to use a qtip to push out yellow infection. This has scabbed over a few times, but the bump on the side of her beak and under her beak has not gone away. I isolate her and started her on tylan/ amoxicillin mix. But it has gotten bigger and have not been able to get but a small amount of pus out. Also tried to lance the hard knot under her beak and nothing came out. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is she still eating and/or drinking, and have you separated her from the rest of your flock? (im not sure if its safe for them to drink out of the same waterer, depending on what this is.)

This looks maybe like fowl pox but im not 100% sure, do you have mosquitos this time of year where you live?

if it is fowl pox, then there is no real cure, i would just dilute iodine solution in water and use it to clean any scabs in the future.

after all, im not 100% sure this is pox but its a possibility, there are many helpful articles on BYC and the internet you can look at yourself! let me know if you have any questions!

I would look for any yellow plaques or patches inside the beak. If a bad odor develops with yellow plaques, that could be canker or trichomonas protozoan infection. That is a disease carried by pigeons that can be spread through drinkers. It can look similar to the wet version of fowl pox. The swelling of the outside of the beak should be watched, in case of a tumor or beak injury. I have seen a couple of chickens who had similar symptoms of canker, who ended up having cancer and were put down. Here is some reading about canker:

i kinda of thought that too. We have had dry pox before. It is in her mouth. But it is not in her throat. I have cleaned it out at the bottom of her beak and it scabs over. No smell like a canker. But it does hurt her. I started spraying some colloidal silver on it and will see if that helps. The Tylanmox doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

If the fowl pox was in the last year, it is possible for the illness to be wet pox. It can remain infectious in shed scabs for some time, but wet pox may remain longer. Many times we can’t know what the illness is without some sort of testing, unless the chicken dies when many state vets can do a necropsy with lab work. Here is a list of most state vets labs if you ever need to get a necropsy done:
