What is this little deposit?

A few of my hens have been laying oblong eggs recently, and this one has a kind of deposit I've never seen before.

Calcium.

I have had a couple of birds over the years that regularly produced eggs w/ near identical deformities. Perfectly safe to eat.

I did eventually remove them from my flock. No point in keeping known error producers. But in the grand scheme of things, its pretty minor.

Ok. That is what I figured but I had never seen one that looked like this so I just wanted to be sure.

yes, and it fell off when I boiled the egg.
