Hey everyone. So, the strangest thing just happened. We were down the allotments seeing to our hens and newly hatched chicks when a strange bird crashed into the fence?? At first we thought it was a chicken, but it doesn’t appear to have a comb - so we honestly have no clue what it is.

It flew quite high, almost a meter vertically when we were trying to catch it. Joe is thinking it could be a black pheasant, but we don’t know.

It has white around its neck, and it’s feathers also have a blue/green shimmer to them as you see in ducks and magpie’s - we’ve currently got it in an enclosed run that the ducks use with some chick crumb and water (it looks extremely young and we don’t know what else to feed it tbf)

It also has a plastic nose ring going through it’s nostrils and it’s mouth, so it must belong to someone??

Any help identifying what type of bird it is and how old you’d say it is would be extremely helpful!! Thank you :)

Ps; the white stuff around it’s beak is chick crumb 75825792-85E9-4DB9-9E0B-F76A8F1744C5.jpeg

I think you are correct, it does look like a pheasant. I would guess a hen ringneck.
it probably escaped from a nearby pheasant farm..
google it.
