+ 2C and drizzly. Seems to be the weather pattern for the rest of the weekend. At least it isn’t frigid or snowing!

The moon was visible for about 10 min here last night - it’s a lovely 1/2 moon

100 miles wow is that a daily event because it takes about 3 hours to drive 100 miles I hope there are rest areas on the route

I know of one Mexican restaurant in mobile that has a Mariachi band at least it did about 20 years ago I haven’t been in that many years so I don’t know

There are aid stations all along the route that supply water and food and of course port-a-potties.

There is also a team of certified helpers called Bike Patrol who ride the route to provide mechanical aid, first aid, and moral support. Here are the cyclists at the starting line at dawn. You can see the Bike Patrol team member in her yellow jersey. The fire department also has emergency stations set up all along the route.

Some people dress up to cheer on the cyclists.

It can be pretty grueling! Since we're in the desert there are always some areas where the ground is too sandy to ride. Participants have to dismount and carry their bike (while running!) or just walk their bikes to the next point where they can ride again.

I forgot to come post but snowed all night Thursday, but was gone the next day when it rained. That was our first.

It's funny watching chickens walk on it the first time, like it's lava. Takes them about a minute and off they go!
