Thus the term "Snow Bunnies" was created, a name for older folks (of which I am) from cold winter states that take off a couple of the coldest months and head to warmer states, then come back in the spring.

I just go visit Dad in Florida for a few days, but I have chickens here, so I have no desire to leave for more than that, or I'd have to take them with me.

Growing up in FL as a FL native those winter guests were kindly referred to as snowbirds by the natives. Those that stayed behind as new residents were still snowbirds only now they had a broken wing.

We call them snowbirds here, too, but it's a derogatory term.

If I could get the heck out of here during the Hell Months I would do so in a heartbeat. I certainly don't have any problem with those who do. I think it's smart.

There's so little time before before the Hell Months return and I still have so much work to get done. Every morning I wake up with that little flutter of panic and just want to start running!

The snow birds are definitely here and visitors come down at Christmas time every year also - clogging up roadways, restaurants, grocery stores and gas stations. Looking at the license plates, they are from all over the country. Many snowbirds have obviously decided to relocate the last couple of years because they just don't leave. Not to mention all the new construction all over the place. It's getting crowded down here for sure.

Sounds like your no different than South Texas.....IH 35 has been under construction for 60 years, there 5 times the traffic there use to be in small towns, like Seguin....San Antonio has become a nightmare almost as bad as Houston.
Not so much the snowbirds but Californians and the illegal aliens influx has really become apparent....wish Texas would build a wall all the way around!

Sounds like your no different than South Texas.....IH 35 has been under construction for 60 years, there 5 times the traffic there use to be in small towns, like Seguin....San Antonio has become a nightmare almost as bad as Houston.
Not so much the snowbirds but Californians and the illegal aliens influx has really become apparent....wish Texas would build a wall all the way around!

Hey now, this Californian is considering Texas and Florida (and Alabama) as possible places to move to! But not San Antonio or Houston.
