What's the temperature where you are???

Thus the term "Snow Bunnies" was created, a name for older folks (of which I am) from cold winter states that take off a couple of the coldest months and head to warmer states, then come back in the spring.

I just go visit Dad in Florida for a few days, but I have chickens here, so I have no desire to leave for more than that, or I'd have to take them with me. ☺️
We call them snow birds.

My parents spent 22 winters in Yuma AZ - I used to ‘order up’ a late winter / early Spring storm in the middle of April for them so they wouldn’t forget what snow was 😆

They started to stay down there until mid April then hahaha.

I have a love of cactus from them being down there, in fact we have winter hardy varieties here that I now grow in my garden 😊

I dream of winning the lottery and moving my horses and chooks down south to Florida for the winter hahaha

Growing up in FL as a FL native those winter guests were kindly referred to as snowbirds by the natives. Those that stayed behind as new residents were still snowbirds only now they had a broken wing. :)
I plan on wintering in Florida and summers back home (of course I can only spend a certain number of days out of country), I truly detest the cold and snow.

Once the horses and chooks have passed on and I retire, I will be in the south for the winter.

We call them snowbirds here, too, but it's a derogatory term. 🙁

If I could get the heck out of here during the Hell Months I would do so in a heartbeat. I certainly don't have any problem with those who do. I think it's smart.

There's so little time before before the Hell Months return and I still have so much work to get done. Every morning I wake up with that little flutter of panic and just want to start running!
Really?! Why derogatory? I would think that additional spending by the snowbirds would be welcome.

I have 157 days to go until the end of ‘hell freezing over’.

I know what you mean, I am like that in the summer, trying to get hay in, do all the repairs that need done in warm weather, and all in between rain and such. Until I get the hay in and all the summer task done I just worry. As it is I didn’t get a chance to check the eves troughs on the house one last time before everything froze up.

Extremes in temps are a huge concern for both you and I it seems.

Maybe that's why up here they call them snow bunnies. Some say snow birds too but the vast majority it's bunnies. Perhaps because we actually have snowbirds, and they come HERE for the winter and do NOT go south.

Here we call snow bunnies the girls and young ladies who frequent the ski hills.

Sashaying around in their ski boots acting all sassy. Snow Bunnies 😉
