What's the temperature where you are???

Last time mobile had snow was back in 2018
We got enough snow
that I went walking and stomping around in the snow like a kid ❄️❄️❄️🙂🙂🙂
I was 56 then what a difference 7 years make
Now all I am thinking about is safety and I don’t want to fall again, I fell in November (blood pressure meds make me dizzy and off balance )
Oh no! Yes falling is never a good thing at our age.

Wood shavings are great on snow and ice if you have any; it makes a good walking surface, and can help get you vehicle out of an icy spot.

I sure hope that it doesn’t get as cold as they are saying.

I have a question for all y’all Extreme cold temperatures peeps ::

What kind of socks do yall wear and where do y’all buy them

I need some more warmer thermal socks that are not so thick and bulky

If there is such a thing

Thank yall
Funny you should ask.

I just bought a new pair of rubber boots with liners. Until the liner is ‘broken in’ I need to wear a pair of thinner socks.

Generally I have different pairs of socks for my diff boots (the funny things living and working in a northern climate we do!).

The thing to remember is to use socks that are natural fibres like cotton or wool to help wick moisture away your skin. There are also new synthetic socks that do this.

Your footwear should never be tight, if you cannot easily move your toes around in your boots then your blood flow will be restricted. Your feet will get cold.

I have nice socks I got at Walmart that are a bit fuzzy on the inside but not too thick.

The other issue I have is socks that are too loose and slide down my foot and bunch up at my toes - extremely irritating!

So to recap
- natural fibres or synthetic that wicks
Moisture
- socks that stay put
- not to tight, doesn’t restrict blood flow
- waterproof boots - dry feet are warm feet

If it’s icy throw down some salt - even table salt helps; wood shavings are awesome. Also ‘walk like a penguin’ take small steps on icy surfaces.

And lastly if you don’t have to drive or go anywhere then stay put. Let the roads crews do their job. Be safe!

If your feet get wet and cold go inside immediately and dry them.

Please be safe, I have my fingers crossed that the cold isn’t as bad as forecasted.

I thought I had moved far enough south I would not have snow ever again. I thought wrong. It's 50° now and it is chilling fast. Tuesday we should see measurable snow and frozen pipes.
I really feel for those of you in southern areas, I know I whine about this weather, but we have measures in place to prevent pipes from freezing, etc. I feel terrible that you have to deal with cold and snow. 😞

Sock liners, available through most camping and outdoor stores, are my goto. The thin air layer adds an extra degree of warmth. They're thin and lightweight, so they don't bulk up under regular socks. That's the deal-maker for me is that liners allow me to wear thin wool socks. Wool keeps you warm even when it's wet ... but I'm allergic to it.

Sky's a matte blue-gray, a true "snow sky" that's predicted to start sifting down within the hour. Temp's dropping after hovering around freezing all morning. That's a real heat wave - the highest it's been all week!
Read an interesting article this morning. Even Mother Nature is confused!

Yep Mother Nature has gone off the rails, it’s all about the La Nina/Le Nino effect. We’re in a La Niña apparently.
