Warning to Sheep Graziers

Issued at 11:50 AM EDT on Saturday 29 Mar 2025.

Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, heavy rain and showers and southerly winds are expected during Saturday and Sunday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes & Plains, Central West Slopes & Plains and Snowy Mountains forecast districts. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

VERY HEAVY SURF which may lead to localised damage and coastal erosion is possible along the New South Wales coast south of Seal Rocks from Sunday afternoon and evening, becoming more likely during Monday.

Wow! How old do they figure Shiva is?
The ranger said it is more than 100 years old and very healthy so it could easily live another hundred years. As of 2021 it had 78 arms, I don't know how many it has now.

Here are two others. I don't think they have names. This one is near Apache Lake which is northeast of Phoenix.

This one is near Queen Valley which is east of Phoenix. Arms upon arms upon arms!

This one was called "The Grand-daddy." It's the largest saguaro cactus ever registered (I had no idea there was a saguaro cactus registry). It died of old age in Saguaro National Park in the 1990s. I think they can live over 200 years.
