I would personally not call Wyandottes a "dual purpose" breed. I guess they can be eaten, but I had some once, and they grew kind of slow, and didn't seem very meaty.just a thought though, and I do think it is a beautiful breedhey yall pick your favorite breed out of theese top ten most popular dual pourpose breeds!!![]()

Eh, "dual purpose" is mostly used for breeds that aren't broiler hybrids or high production egg layers these days. And hatchery dual purpose breeds are often mediocre at best for both meat and eggs. It's impossible to compare heritage breeds with modern broiler hybrids when it comes to feed conversion and growth rate. I will say my wyandotte is the largest pullet in my flock, and it's not all fluff.I would personally not call Wyandottes a "dual purpose" breed. sorry about ur orp, its hard for me to choose one as well! How dare you make me choose only oneOf my current flock i only have 2, a RIR and a BLR wyandotte. My current wyandotte is a doll, love her. But my first wyandotte, not so much. Out of the breeds listed in the poll I've also had an orpington and 2 speckled Sussex. I was so sad when my orp was killed by a raccoon, but I think I liked the Sussex just that little bit more. So my vote is for speckled Sussex.
And thus, chicken mathsorry about ur orp, its hard for me to choose one as well!
