I have a very interesting problem that I thought I would come on here to see if anyone could give any advice.
We purchased a group of chicks a year and 3 months ago. Out of that group from that particular feed store, we had many issues, including a chick with a deformed eye and a chick with a deformed beak. We also noticed that one of the hens showed classic signs of MG when young (bubbling eye). This brings me to our rooster. At around maybe 6 months of age, we noticed that he had started wheezing and sounding funny. We did research and ended up treating the whole flock for parasites, thinking it may have been gapeworm. This didn't really seem to fix his problem. A few months later, he was still wheezing and sounding odd, so I did more research. All that I could find were diseases that said they killed within a week or so. I knew this wasn't our problem because he was still alive and kicking. Now, a year later, he still wheezes, but he is in great spirits and is molting for the first time.
Does anyone have any idea what may be causing his wheezing? It's normally constant, occasionally getting worse. He seems to feel perfectly fine besides this. The only other things I can think of are that he has some white on his face near his comb and wattles. It's just slightly raised and I noticed that it seems to turn dark and then peel off. It's not fowl pox (they already went through that when they were young too).
Any advice would be appreciated. He seems to be happier but I would love to make him happier!
