This is Bob a speckled Sussex Roo.
Bob has 5 Hens to keep him happy, although one named Whitetail is not having it.
She is the same age as the Mother Speckles, let's say an aunt.

Whitetail did not need a Hen saddle her feathers are in great shape. Bob tries &
Whitetail jumps up & grabs bob by the scruff of his neck & lets him know Your not my Roo.

She is all so the Boss of the flock & the prize egg layer.

Will she ever accept Bob as her Roo?

Older and dominant hens will put him to the test and he will have to prove that he is a good male all around before they will even think about accepting him.

So lots of patience, nice gifts and overall caring will be the key to an experienced hen's heart.

We have one older Speckled Sussex hen that will not let our rooster near her. My Sussex rooster is so chill that he really doesn’t mind.
We have had four SS roosters and all of them were so gentle and chill. Not saying all of them are this way.
