Hi there. We have a flock of two buff orpington hens (the third died 5 days ago) with one of the hens sitting on bought fertlised bantam eggs (first time for all of us). The coop is small and badly designed so we're coverting the kids Playhouse to a bigger and better one which should be ready in about 2 weeks. Chicks due a few days after that. They are free range. Id love some advice on when to move them all in please. Would you move everyone when the chicks are a couple of days old and lock in for three days? Or settle the non-broody in a few days before, then let the newly hatched chicks and broody in after? Does this risk the chicks? Or move the two hens with the eggs a few days before? Or will this risk her abandoning her eggs? Otherwise could wait til they are much older chicks but worried about overcrowding... thank you!

How about leaving your broody where she is (to hatch the chicks) and move the others. Let them all interact in the run before putting them together in the new coop.
