When to pull extra drake?

If I build a separate pen could I keep both drakes and control how much time they get with the ladies or would they fight?
Very likely yes! - But again it depends on the personality of the drakes. There are some members here who have a drake-only flock with success, but the moment females are even close by, the drakes (may) turn on each other.
It is definitely worth a try, if you can afford the effort and time.

I’m hesitant to get more baby ducks because of how chilly it’s already getting. If I remove both drakes and keep only the ducks will the ladies be ok through the winter and get a new batch this spring? Ive also read that if you don’t have a drake the ducks could become victimized by a rooster.

I already have them separated for housing but they freerange together. I’ve not seen my current rooster have any interest in the ducks, he seems as scared of them as they are of him but the hens cause problems when I put out food or treats so I lure them to the opposite side of the house and put food in their bowls first and then they ignore each other most of the time.

There ya go already solved. My Roosters are good boys my Runners and Muscovy sleep in the same house with my chickens some of my Muscovy roost with the chickens. Not every chicken will be nice enough that you can do that. These have all grown up together. All my water flow except the geese respect my oldest roo. But he has never injured anyone.
