Thank you! For two new girls to my flock...should I do both Safeguard and Corid?Corid is a medication that treats coccidiosis only. For worming the 2 I would recommend are Valbazen sheep and cattle wormer, or SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer or the horse paste. Dosage of Valbazen, which can be found online and in some feed stores is 1/2 ml (0.5 ml) given orally, and then repeated it in 10 days. SafeGuard is 0.23 or 1/4 ml per pound, given for 5 consecutive days orally to get most chicken worms except tapeworm. You could also just give it once and again in 10 days for roundworms only.
If the girls are mature, they should have built up a resistance to coccidia. However if you see watery droppings and they are standing around puffed up, that can be a sign of coccidiosis, perhaps from a new strain they have been exposed to. I would probably worm the new birds though. Don’t eat their eggs for about 14 days after the last treatment.Thank you! For two new girls to my flock...should I do both Safeguard and Corid?
