Whose Waiting This week for Meyer's Chicks to arrive????

I am still nervously waiting on my chicks! They haven't been scanned since they left Meyer.. eep.

They won't get scanned until arrival. They do not update delivery confirmation at every stop..it only confirms delivery.

Thank you for the info, GiddyMoon! They actually have scanned it at the sort facilities, now, I just checked again.

My package is being shipped express (instead of Priority), perhaps that makes a difference?

If you call your post office and let them know you have some they will usually give you a call right away when they get it. I got calls at 6:30 am for mine this year!

Isa the sort facility in your town? Because that is usually what they do UNLESS, your package is of certain value or you speciifcally paid for "tracking". Most people assume the DC that comes with it is a way to track..but it only confirms the destination and yes, that will usually be the sorting facility.

I went to Meyer's on April 18 to pick up my first chickens - 16 Welsummers. Three weeks old yesterday and getting real big. Moving them out of the basement and into their new Horizon Structures coop tomorrow. Meyers has a pretty sizable modern operation, with a number of large relatively new buildings. Well run and they are very nice.

They didn't eat really the first two days and I was worried. The I thought, hey they are still full of yolk 'cause I picked them up the day they were born instead of having them shipped. No problems since then.

They are here! One of my faverolles is a bit off... I have made sure that things are warm enough and have showed her the food and water several times, but she just 'distress' peeps unless I am holding her. She does all the 'normal' chick things such as stretching, the shake-n-fluff, etc but just seems distressed. No other problems other than the reluctance to eat and chirping. I will keep a close eye on her and hope for the best.

The other 7 are incredibly lively, eating and drinking right off the bat like champs! Poops look good and they are already jumping over each other.

Here's a terrible cellphone photo! More later when I have better light.

Cute babies! My little Marans did the same thing. Seemed like I could not get them to eat much for about 2 days. Then they eat really well, and 4 weeks later they are still doing great. You might try some egg yolk. Good luck!

Thank you! I tried some sugar water in an eyedropper. At first she was very upset but then took to it pretty quickly. I make a wet mash with some of her feed and got her to eat those too. She seems completely oblivious that she can get food without me... time will tell! I encouraged her with the eyedropper, dipping it into the food and water, since it's the only thing she will follow but she doesn't 'get' it yet.
