My two dudes are roughly 21 weeks old, and I'd say maybe somewhere around weeks 12-16ish, my Pekin started doing this on occasion. It's probably the goofiest thing I've seen out of either of these guys since I brought them home from TSC. Any idea what he's communicating? 🤔

I have only seen my male do that display, and during the mating season. Not entirely sure what it is. I always assumed it was a mating display or some sort of dominance display. Mine would always suck his head into his chest and puff his chest out afterwards. He would make himself look very puffed up.

I will be interested if someone knows what it actually is.

I'm trying to upload a video (on YouTube) of very different behavior from my Buff Duck. I believe she's a bit mad at me. I love how expressive Ducks are. They're such wonderful creatures, no matter if they're showing off in the name of love or angry and on the verge of charging :D

This is Tom and I believe that she's angry that I had the audacity to carry her up to their fenced in area from their duck house. Your guy looks sweet and happy and my girl looks serious and mad. Of course I could be completely wrong but I enjoy being able to see the differences. (The loud quacking you hear is my Pekin Duck that's trying to communicate to her Drake that's down at their duck house still.)

Oh she's mad. That head bob low to the side that you are on she is doing That's angry duck saying, "not you, not you, go away, go away!" It's kind of the opposite of the normal up and down head bob we see.
