Why don't my chickens eat the flies??

I was thinking that once it got colder that the flies would slow down and then they could be caught by the chickens. But maybe it's like the "gut load" of mealworms and crickets, since the "gut load" of flies is crap then they probably taste like crap, lol!!!!
