Being friends first is a great thing! My husband and I were friends, and only friends, for over ten years before both our original marriages dissolved ( and yes, we were friends with eachother's spouses, who honestly both turned out to be pretty horrible people ).

But having that background of friendship before we ever even thought of being together, really solidified our relationship once we eventually did.

So go for it! I think some of the best relationships of people I know were friends first.
