Last year our chickens and geese lived together it cause some issues with not only aggression from our gander to the chickens for food but also our goose Gizzy and the hens were taking over each others nests. Gizzy had a dog igloo to lay her nest but if the chickens found her egg they'd lay there or destroy her nest and vice versa. This year we have a goose pen and while the geese do get put in the chicken pen for extremely cold temps because they refuse to use their shelter in their pen. I want to make sure Gizzy knows to lay in the shelter cause they also have a pond and I am not wanting to go swimming for eggs. We will be hatching their eggs like we did last year lol.
Gizzy would steal a hens nests last year so I'm wondering if I put some fake chicken eggs in the goose shelter would she realize thats where to lay? Our chickens are all brown/tan layers not that I think color matters.
