Will ducks destroy the grass?

I decided a long time ago not to take their mud away--they are their happiest in the mud.the pool water isn't draining well because the groubd us colder, so I let them play in one huge puddle for about an hour. The noises they make is pure excitement.

How can I get mad at this...

That’s what mine look like right this second! It’s absolutely pouring rain, and my ducks practically ran me over to get out when I got home from work. They’ve really given me a new appreciation for rainy days as I simply can’t feel blue watching them play in the mud so joyfully. As for my grass, the areas around their pools are just mud/dirt, but they have had little visible effect on the larger area besides a drill hole here and there.

So my ducks will definitely destroy the grass? It doesn't flood after it rains. It will only be six ducks on a one acre pasture.
Do you have chickens? They have destroyed much more than my ducks.
1 acre is a lot for the ducks to roam on. If you are worried keep them in their run for part of the day. That way they can only destroy half of the day.
I think wannabehillbilly was illustrating the holes they made from a puddle due to the rain.
Ducks destroying the lawn is probably one of the least worries to me anyway. They are messy beings who need access to water lots of water to make more messes.

:love I see this regularly it's pure bliss lol

If my 8 ducks don't destroy .15 acre, I can't see how your guys would destroy an acre. Yes, they may have a spot or two where they may eat back some, but it won't be bad. There is a pond near our house where there are like 8-10 ducks, mixed batch, large adults. The grass there remains green, and those guys are active.

If you had 20 ducks, maybe I would be worried. But I don't think you should be worried about your little group.

Well, there's only one way to find out!
But in all seriousness, I highly doubt they'll destroy everything, but it will be apparent where their favourite spots are ;)
Chickens IMO are far more destructive than ducks. Ducks won't destroy the grass, but the grass won't ever grow too long. Does the are that you'll be free ranging them in have trees/bushes? Ducks need them for protection from predators.
Good luck.
