Will tarps trap heat?

I have a coop and run but it gets alot of sun and i put tarps over the run to help give them shade. It has room for air to flow through. what do yall think.

I imagine it would be fine, I'd do the same thing if I had to. I see plenty of people with this type of setup-as long as there's airflow, you should be okay!

I just tarped my run on Monday and the girls are very happy. During the hot part of the day they had been staying the coop. Now they are out under the tarp.

We have a tarp over half our run, that way if it does rain or is hot out they have a place to go, plus i put the tarp right next to the coop door for the chicken run, so they always are dry. although my chicks are funny, ill go in the chicken run and dump the water overhead and the chickens are running around so crazy,, even hopping in the water, its so cute.

I just bought 99cent tarps the other day from the dollar store just to save them from a flood in the runs....

Tarps will work!! I built this coop & added a deck above the run & it paid off big time this summer. It pro

vided shade which was needed for the extreme temps we had.
