I might be getting a few Hens (about 2 y/o).
I will be worming them and soaking their legs (mites) just to make sure since I don't know the owners.
I do not currently have any hens and have not for about 2 years.

My question is, should I keep a temp coop in a separate area during the deworming process ?
I can put them a little further over from where they will permanently be, coop wise. Or does it not matter.

I don't think it matters but this is the first time I would be worming as my hens in the past I got as chicks.
I just want to kind of purge them to get a better start.

Well, not really a dumb question. It's conceivable that the new hens, if they have worms, could contaminate the soil with worm eggs, as you are in the process of worming them. Wormers will kill any adult worms in the chicken, but do not kill the eggs that may be passing through the chickens intestines, already, as the medication is in the process of killing the adult worms. However, it is highly likely that the soil where you plan to keep your hens already has worm eggs, as the eggs last in the soil for years. Even if you think your previous flock did not have worms, you wouldn't always know unless you do fecal flotation. So, if it were me, I wouldn't bother, but do what makes you most comfortable.
