I mentioned earlier I wanted to find a couple pics of Chooks mans Marans just to show the quality in his breeding program.
The mass and type on these guys is just awe inspiring....
If I remember correctly, the only variety he didn't have were pure Black Marans. He had Black Marans but they didn't breed true IIRC.

Today should be a national holiday with pay.

And with that thought this story comes to mind...
Shopping for Christmas dinner stuff a few years ago. The wife makes homemade dressing for me specifically but she needs this stuff...

This kind and this kind only, she's picky, don't care but that's what she wants.
Ok, in Walmart a few days before Christmas rounding everything up. Can't find it.
She needs it and we can't find it in any aisle, endcap or where they stuff all things Christmas dinner together in midway.
Finally I catch someone, employee in that general vicinity.
Quick conversation ensues like this....

Me...."Hey, excuse me, I'm looking for that Pepperidge Farms dressing mix stuff and can't find it? Do you know where it's at?"

Employee.... "Yeah, that only gets brought in on major holiday's"

Me.... "It's Christmas!?"

Employee.... "Yeah, we only get that in on the major holiday's"

Me...."Yeah, but it's....nevermind...thanks"

I went to the grocery store yesterday, the Christmas stuff (candies, plates, box mixes) are already starting to be discounted by 10% or so, not a big selection left and there was an end cap for.... Valentines day

I know this has been said for at least 20 years, but amazingly it still holds true: they bring out the holiday decorations earlier and earlier each year.

Maybe this is why Christmas just doesn't feel as special and Christmassy anymore.

Nope, I'm pretty sure it's a plague that sweeps across the country all year every year
