Wrath's Marans

It must be that time of year for broodys. My Jersey Gena has that look in her eye again. She hasn’t fully committed but she is only 2 years old and this will be her 8th time broody so I have gotten pretty good at noticing the early signs. I can’t check her belly for a broody patch because she never grew her feathers back in since her last broody in January. I fully expect to find her in a nest box tonight when I get home from work.
She's got the bare belly, but....
She just layed an egg at 1:30, long time lounger since before dark last night.

Watching to see what she does now.. the plot thickens.

I have an Orpington that has a bare belly but continues to lay eggs. She takes forever and hangs out for an hour or two after but always goes up to roost at sunset. It’s like she feels the urge but not strong enough to go full broody. She is still technically a pullet only 10 months old

I added a couple eggs to her golf ball a couple hours ago. She's nestled down still at this hour in the For Sale box...🙂
