Congrats on the egg and good job with Daisey!

She may be a little inconsistent at first...eggs for two to three days in a row then skip a day; but it won't take her long to get her factory running smoothly.
She's pretty.

Well done Daisey!!! It is so exciting the first egg. Mine happened last week and yes it has been on almost everyday since...Congats...it is so exciting...and yes, who knew chickens are so much fun and lovable...I can't believe how much I love mine.

How did you 'find' a chicken? and how did you catch her? was she 'tame'...anyway she gave you the little gifts because she loves you guys....well done on all counts.

We recently moved to a house on a lake in Minneapolis. About a week or 2 after moving into our new neighborhood my wife was walking our 2 greyhounds down to the beach and swore she saw a chicken cross the path and run into the woods. After a few days of this she told me about the "chicken" and I told her it must have been a pheasant or turkey or something, couldn't have been a chicken in the city. The next day I saw the mystery chicken after we found a biker on his hands and knees looking into the woods telling us "I swear I saw a chicken in the woods". The next day me and 2 friends organized a chicken hunting party and after 20 minutes of chasing and hysterical laughter Daisey was captured and brought home. Turns out she must have been someones pet that they released or something because as soon as she got home she just followed me around like a puppy and we've been fast friends ever since. She is so sweet. We did post ads on Craigslist and other local boards, but only got responses from people wanting her for dinner. We are vegetarians, that was not an option. Now we're chicken people and the rest is history.

What a lucky hen and what a good end to a great story!
I had my first egg last week from my marans.
We had one every other day. Then a day off and then one yesterday and another today.

The magic hasn't worn off yet! Hope your Daisy becomes regular
