Hi,

We are eagerly awaiting our first eggs from our hens. When I checked the nest boxes today I noticed that there had been some activity in there today. All the wood chips are pushed to the side like a bowl (or nest haha), but one box has a yellow liquid in it. It has no odor really. Not sure what it is?? Anyone seen this before? Thanks!

Sounds like one of your girls laid an egg that had no shell. Totally normal for a first time layer, or so I understand. I'm getting a few of those myself right now as my pullets try for their first "real" egg. You should see a normal one veryl soon. Congrats!

Should I clean that out of there or leave it so they know where to go?

Yes that's most likely what's happening. We had 3 or 4 times before we started getting consistently hard shelled eggs. Now we get 3 a day!!! So fun! Also, yes clean that out you don't want them to eat it. I hear they cannot break an egg eater! :) Congrats!

Got our first egg today! Nice brown shell. Hopefully the rest will follow suit. Thanks for your responses.

OK, after yesterday I was expecting another today. Is it normal that I didnt get one today?
