Yellow Rough Skin on Crop after impacted crop

My hen had impacted crop, what felt to be a small amount of wadded grass in there. I gave her some coconut oil and electrolytes and kept massaging it and it went down significantly. This morning only a tiny amount remained and most food and water that I’ve been giving her is not sitting in her crop. It is going through ok. But she is not doing well today. I noticed her crop has turned yellow on the skin over it and it is rough. Has anyone seen this before or know what this could be? I made sure all of my hens have grit now since this is the second crop problem I’ve had in the past month. They free range on grass during the day.

She did end up passing away unfortunately. I was tube feeding her and tried everything I could think of, but she just wasn’t getting any better. Thank you for your response.

I’m really sorry they give us so many good days and a few really bad ones. Her case seems sort of perplexing. There must have been more going on that we just couldn’t see. They hide things so well sometimes. I wish I could offer more insight as to what may have been wrong. I was hoping she was improving and the skin thing was just a fluke. Did you send her for a necropsy by chance?
