Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

That is a seriously confused shrubbery! I hope that doesn't mean less blooms come spring.

I moved a LOT of fallen leaves into the chicken runs. They seem to enjoy that crunching noise lol. I also straightened up the garden shed. It's amazing how nothing gets put away properly during summer. Just 67° out but boy did it feel warm. We use the stabil even in our motorcycles. It...

I love the holiday decorations! We don't decorate for the holidays here mostly because there is no place to put them for storage. I still enjoy seeing them though. We expect snow Monday morning. I suspect it won't be much.

I can appreciate the need for dry weather to finish winter prep. I need to do a lot of that this weekend myself. If the wind stops long enough I will get the plastic up on the runs and haul dirt to fill in a tiger trap the dogs dug.

No weird asian ladybeetles here that I know of. It's not recommended for any bug to mess around with my coffee. :hmm Today is starting off quite windy and forecast to be warmer. Next week is supposed to be much cooler with our first snow scheduled for Monday morning. I need to be sure and...

I am enjoying our weather here in Colorado. Warm enough to not run the furnace and cool enough at night to think about a jacket for morning chores. The trees are all extra gorgeous in fall colors here.

I still think you should try fort Laramie strawberries. They are hardy well below zero. Your bed being on the south does stand a good chance of making it.

I got my baker creek catalog! :wee Now to go through it, make my short list, check my seed stash, audit the short list, draw up the garden plan and hope for spring! Oh and order seeds should be in there too.

Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I added Fort Larimie strawberries last year (2019). They are my new favorite! Nice big berries on long stems is what mine have done. I will lift them very early this spring and add some natural fertilizer (steer manure) to the bed. I hope to get enough that we can have strawberry shortcake AND...

I just looked up Lions Ear. I can see why the hummers would like it. It looks interesting. I planted some bee balm seeds and 2 kinds of penstemon seeds. Tomorrow I will plant peppers and a few other slower things.

Lol poor bird would have a dog AND a cat staring at it. I dare not plant anything outside until MAY. I will poke around and loosen some soil before then but no planting.

It certainly could. It would need a bit of gap closing and shelves put in to do that. The plastic shelves in there are 2&3 inches smaller than the cage.

Good to know I don't have to do a bunch of freeze these, fridge for tnose, plant only during a full moon while fireflies are active, call in a voodoo priestess stuff. :gig I will make my goal to set perennial seeds next weekend. That gives me a chance to finish my no no kitty plant cage. I...

This morning I find myself reading up on seed starting. Stratify? Not sure I quite get that 100%. :hmm I bought penstemon seeds. It says on the web that the seeds need at least a 2 month stratification. Good golly I don't have 2 months! I will put some in the fridge following what I read and...
