So sorry to hear this :( Sounds to me like the turkey vultures are being drawn in - I hate to say it, but if the attack was Saturday and they all started showing up on Sunday, it's likely that somewhere a carcass is attracting them.

It's a husky, so she fully believed he would do it. He also came back that morning coated in mud from chasing the geese around the big mud puddle trying to get them. She says she thinks what happened is that the link on his chain loosened up and that's how he got free. They had put the huskies...

I did - she paid me today with no hassle, so that's good.

Lol! I should update it. I have sold out of some birds and no longer have them, and have other birds, like Rex here. Seems well! She had those superficial wounds that I Blu Koted, and I started her on some antibiotics just in case.

Yes, that is Rex, my blue slate tom :)

She's home! It involved renting a Uhaul and having my Dad drive while I road in the trailer holding a piece of OSB to keep her in a corner, walking her on a rope over my lovely muddy yard that the trailer couldn't be driven over, and then getting the rope back off her once she realized she was...

I had quite the day. Last night before I went to sleep at midnight I checked my cameras for the emu pasture - I do it every night to make sure all is well. All was not well. I saw a dog repeatedly going into and out of the emu barn, meaning it had gotten into the emu pasture somehow. I jumped...

Hello all! Today was busy. I went and picked up a Pilgrim gander to go with that rescue goose I took in. However, now looking at his size compared to her, I'm worried she's maybe not a Pilgrim. Anyone in here keep them and can weigh in? Please excuse the mud, we are in mud season full swing...

Because of that reason, conservation efforts are underway to put up 'fake' chimneys for them to live in! VINS in Vermont is working with Audubon Vermont to get some up. Here's a video of one going up:

No, the camera is picking up some sort of sound from the incubator but it doesn't actually sound like that in person. I promise I'm not making the chicks deaf, LOL.

It's not a duckling, but I thought I'd share this video of my new little hatchlings:

Interesting! You do sometimes see some mutations pop up in wild mallards - I've seen bibbed mallards before, which is cool. I wonder if this is the restricted mallard gene.

Hopefully soon! Last year they started on the 24th with eggs. No eggs yet this year, but it's taken until January in the past.

I'm sure the ducks were devastated, haha. :P

I actually find it to be the opposite - ducklings and ducks are much messier than goslings and geese, haha.

I have some new arrivals! The yellow ones are white chinese, and they'll be going to a friend. The darker ones are Africans, and I'll be keeping them. Tufted Romans are still my favorite breed, but they don't produce very many eggs. Enter the Africans, haha. Unfortunately after this...

He got me around the towel the first time I gave him his meds. Luckily he's not usually too bad - he did break the skin, but he let go and it only left a little mark. He could have been much worse if he wanted! The tetracycline isn't agreeing with him, I don't think. He seems more miserable...

Good news: Rowan is doing better! He was so unwell Saturday night, I thought he might pass away in the night. But then in the morning Sunday he was whistling to me a bit, and he went to the vet for his second set of shots. This morning, I saw him eating his regular food, not just the millet I...

    The Quack Shack

He mostly whistles - he can do Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and a few other whistles like a wolf whistle - but he does say "What are you doing?" He picked it up because I kept saying it to Pixel so much when she was a puppy, LOL. I just tried to entice him to eat with some millet spray - no...

He's actually doing some preening right now so I'm hoping it's a sign he's starting to feel a little better. Since I don't know if I've posted him in here before, here he is:
