    strawberries

Lot of clay where my garden was, so after loosing everything to damp conditions I went to raised beds. Bought some bare root strawberrys last year and had one plant grow. That's when I decided to experiment with seeds. The last test after putting the seeds in the freezer for awhile worked and I...

    strawberries

I planted strawberry seeds in my basement last august, and they have done quite well. I want to put them outside in a raised bed this year. I'm sure they will grow, but without going through a cold period, will they produce fruit this year, or shouldn't I expect any? thx.

    Strawberries

Quatie, thanks, I don't have a problem caring for the garden as I'm in it every day during the growing season.

    Strawberries

I want to start growing strawberries after a bad experience with a garden full of clay, and everything in it dying. I've gone to raised beds and have been experiencing good luck with what I've planted so far this year. Can I get bare root plants and plant them this year, or wait till next spring...

    Any hard water freaks here?

It's time to see who's out on the hard water, I'm not, we're having rain and 40 degree weather again this winter that's ruining what little ice we had this year. Never wet a line last winter for the same reason. I think we've had more rail since december than we got all last year. good luck...

    Frozen water

I took a metal cookie tin, the kind you get around christmas, about 12-15inches in diameter, maybe 4 or 5 inches high with the top. I mounted a light bulb socket inside with a sheet metal screw through the side. Drilled a hole for the wire to go through, put the water jug on it and plugged it...

    Any hard water freaks here?

I only fish on Saginaw Bay, mostly walleyes, perch are making a comeback. I like to fish for pan fish, crappie, bluegill, but the closest fishing for them is an hour's drive. The bay can be treacherous, cracks open, and the fishing is on the other side, so sometimes you can't get out. Last...

    Any hard water freaks here?

Phil, you've got quite a few lakes to pick from where you live, which one do you like the best, and what's in it? We spent some time up there a few years ago doing the tourist thing, went to marquette, iron mountain, pictured rocks, most of the tourist traps. didn't do any fishing though.

so am I. I never wet a line last winter, had some nice ice forming and got a warm up in january and it blew out, and never got any good ice after that.

    My first Straw bale garden

I left my bales out all winter letting them get soaked from the snow and spring rain, now I'm ready to start putting fertilizer on them and giving them a good soaking. How much water do you use for a "good soaking"? thanks.

    Strawberries plants the winter

I buried my strawberries in leaves, and never saw them again. They were smothered. I planted more, and cut the plants back towards the crown and just left them out all winter, right now they are growing strong and looking good.

    Seed starting woes

I have started seeds indoors for years, and have always had good luck doing this. So far this year everything has gone good and everything is growing as expected. Today I took one of the tomato plants that has been transplanted to a solo cup and put under a grow light and noticed that the first...
