Hey, I just finished a project with a very similar setup with yours. I didn't use cone for the ground of my swirl filter though.
If you see the black hose, I just zip tied it in that black tape (flex-seal) on the side. The position creates a swirl. At the base I also have an outlet for dumping...
Hi friends,
I wanna share my just finished project. The duck pond with a swirl filter and raised garden bed.
It took me a lot of time (and money) for the trial and error. I need to gather fragments of informations from youtube and internet.
My super bad handyman skill doesn't help either...
Thanks Dobielover!
I am not trying to make them broody, but just trying to figure out how can I know they are broody. I believe you told me the signs too. Thank you!
So meanwhile if they are not broody, I can use the incubator, correct?
If they hatch, can I just put the ducklings to the flocks?
Hi I have a male khaki campbell and four female golden 300z.
The female have been laying eggs. They are about 6-8 months old. I want to start trying to get them naturally hatch their eggs and have new ducklings.
Can you all please share some tips, pointers how to do it?
Do I just stop...
According to Metzer, one of these should be male Khaki Campbell and the rest are female Golden 300.
I have a hard time telling the difference.
Can you all help me? Or Metzer got it mistaken?
Thanks Canadian Wind,
For ducklings they need food/water 24/7 no? For now I put their food and water inside the coop.
But as I integrate them for outdoor enclosure, I wish I can put food/water there. So less mess inside the coop, but that means no food/water in the evening.
They do have coop to sleep in. If this setup is okay, I am planning to get them to get into coop on sunset or when it hits below 50F.
I also have question until what weeks we can bring the food and water outside their coop?
Thanks!
Hi folks, looking for input as my 4 1/2 weeks checkpoint.
I am wondering if these ducklings can spend most days outside already?
Seems like too early from their age, but looks fine from their behavior and feathers.
Weather in Seattle is around 50s during the day.
Thanks in advance.
This is the first time I am trying to brood ducklings after successfully brooding chicks three times. It's much more difficult, expensive, and requires more maintenance for ducklings. No matter what variations of anti-mess waterers I use, they still require more maintenance and cleaning than...
Hi friends!
Looking for advise for my 3 1/2 weeks ducks.
I am trying to bring the ducklings from my garage to my former chicken coop (OverEZ Medium Coop) when they reach Week 4.
Temperature outside is still in 40s, but I am planning to put the heating plate and heating pad.
Do you think they can...
Thank you for the support and tips.
Another update that I let them outside.
It is about 60F, and let them wade with small water.
Still be okay for short time (15 minutes or so) right? And I let them dry out since the sun is still out. Here is the little short video:
Hello, wanna ask for feedback here.
My 14 do ducklings very rarely stay under the brooder plate. They love to snuggle together though.
The average brooder temperature is only 68F.
They look active. Should I be concerned and keep working to get them stay in the brooder plate?
Here's the short...
