    Looking for Anconas in Florida

Hi! Looking to find someone who has ancona ducklings in Florida. The only listing I found (Celtic Farms) looks like they no longer breed anconas.

    Decrease in egg production

I'm having the same trouble. We have 18 laying hens and were getting 12-14 eggs a day. Suddenly last week it dropped to 7-9 eggs a day. I can't figure it out unless it's the crazy heat. We're in Florida and the heat and humidity are high right now. They have access to shade and plenty of water...

Tylan50 for a Roo - Is there Egg Withdrawal?

Thank you. There are no avian vets anywhere in our area, so we have to take care of things as best we can on our own. I did try an eye ointment as well as vetrx prior to this. I hate to cull him unless it becomes an absolute necessity.

Tylan50 for a Roo - Is there Egg Withdrawal?

Hi! I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but it's our first time dealing with something like this. We have a Roo with an eye issue. The only thing left for us to try is an antibiotic, so we're going to give him a round of Tylan50. I know there's a withdrawal period for the eggs from...

    Help! Roo eye issue

Our 9 month old CCL Rooster, Archie, suddenly has a swollen eye. It's hard to the touch and no discharge. I've tried some vet Rx on him with no change. He's acting pretty normal except that he's been crazy aggressive to me today. What can I do? We don't have a chicken vet in the area.

    Sex- linked Information

Wow! That is a ton of information. :) I know if I take a black copper marans roo over a cream legbar hen you should get a sex link. Would the opposite work as well? We have a cream legbar roo and marans, welsummer and wyandotte (gold, silver and BLR) pullets.

    Feather picking after lost companion

No ducks and just one roo for the 15 hens, so he's not been an issue. Never heard of a neck molt or molting at all so early. Learn something new and I sure hope that's what it is.

    Feather picking after lost companion

She's about 10 months old and those are feather shafts. There are lots of half gray feathers in the run. No, I didn't catch anyone doing it, but she was fine for the morning free range and then they were gone in the afternoon.

    Feather picking after lost companion

We had two blue copper marans, Maude and Margeaux. They were inseperable since they hatched. We lost Maude on Christmas day. Margeaux was depressed and stopped laying for about two weeks after. She seems somewhat improved now, but still quiet and on her own most of the time. Yesterday afternoon...

Cockerel with Swelling Around the Eye

Help! First time chicken owner here and I have a new-to-me issue. Archie, our 7 month old crested cream legbar cockerel has swelling around one eye. The other seems to be fine. There is no discharge or cloudiness. It's kind of squishy when I push on it (and he doesn't seem bothered when I do...

    Pullet stopped laying

Our flock is on a high quality feed with access to plenty of oyster shell, grit and fresh water, so I know that is not the issue. I try to limit treats and they get a short, supervised free range session each morning after breakfast. I am certain she is not laying anywhere outside or in the run...

    Pullet stopped laying

Hi! I have a six month old Easter egger who started laying about a month and a half ago. She laid faithfully for about three weeks and for the past three, she hasn't laid a single one. She's not acting broody and I've checked to make sure she's not egg bound. Ideas? My husband says she's bound...

EE colouring / plumage - chicks vs/ adults --- Post your PICS!

Has anyone ever had an EE with coloring like a golden laced wyandotte? We bought two EE chicks back in March and 1 looks like your standard EE with slate legs, etc. The other one looks like a GLW now. Wondering if someone pulled a fast one on us. Guess we won't know for sure until they start...
