Your roo does look more to be out of Gray breeding. If I remember correctly - breeding columbian to partridge is the route to go.

Ahh...that is what I though would be the results. I wonder, if we ever singled out the Id(dermal inhibitor) how long it might take to get back to clear barring without losing the Id again... :/
The way I understand the genetics is you will never get a double barred pullet, girls can only carry 1 barring gene. Also, you have to remember that breeding buff(for this point breeding buff without the barring) you still get dark and light colors, so all those light colored buff barred roo...
There is a standard already written for both the cuckoo variety and barred variety, we are just addding the color buff. Both are feather patterns varieties which are explained in the Bantam Standard. Cuckoo is more of a broken pattern where barred isa more even, crisper and cleaner pattern.
If you are wanting to keep the black barred, just find a good black roo for your girls, Black X Black Barred girls = Black barred boys and black girls.
Just to put my 2 cents worth: Note, when dealing with buff barred from my experience is that you will get light and dark from breeding buff barred to buff barred or buff and it is very hard to control dark and light barring, I assume that is just a part of breeding buff in general. I would...
Type is improving...just not as fast as I would like for it too !!! Also the barring is getting better in the girls plumage, looking like barring instead of mottled. I emailed some guys in the UK that raised the buffbarr\lemon cuckoo and they said I would have trouble getting very good...
