Hi. I've actually moved to TX, so no longer in Glendale, AZ. Had to start up with a new flock, and have a variety of hens (Blue Copper Marans, Snowy White Easter Eggers, Splash Ameraucana are a few of the 8), and have am growing up some babies (Welsummer, Olive Eggers, Penciled Rock, and Blue...

Chickens Not Allowed, Going to Anyway.

I lived in Glendale, AZ and was allowed to have as many hens as I wanted, but no roosters - maybe it's because my lot was large - about 20,000 ft. Sonoran Silkies just posted the following on a separate thread, title Arizona Homegrown Freedom Act --- Make sure you get out to support it on Feb...

I'll look into Argyle --- my husband works at the west side of DFW airport, so can't be too far from there.

We're supposed to see a house in Shady Shores tomorrow - no info online regarding chickens, so I'll call and ask in the morning.

Hi TXChickMum -- I couldn't find the laws online for Corinth - are they the same as Denton now?

Looking to Change the Law in Hurst, Texas

Found your petition when trying to find out if Hurst allows chickens (we're looking for a home between Dallas and Fort Worth). I signed it and hope it gets passed whether or not we end up in Hurst.

Comment by 'ArizonaDesertChicks' in article 'From Chicks To Pullets To Hens'

Sleeping Horse -- I'm betting you've already figured out what breed your chicken is since you posted so long ago (I just now noticed the comments here), but Sparrow is an Easter Egger.

Comment by 'ArizonaDesertChicks' in article 'Homemade Incubator 2'

I didn't realize there were comments here till now -sorry to be so late to respond -- thanks, Everyone. --- I've used this incubator again after stealing eggs from a broody with a week left to go and once again had good hatch rates, but as a warning, using a dimmer switch, instead of a...

Coccidios Not Responding to Corid or Sulmet

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble with your your flock :) I'm also sorry I am replying without reading the entire thread (I read the 1st 4 pages and the last 2) and if this was already mentioned, but it sounds as if there could be a vitamin deficiency. Since you were giving your chicks...

The Ultimate Easter Egger Hunt--Let's Sex These Chicks! (Photo Heavy)

Wow - definitely a lot of roos. I think #1, 6, 16 are defintiely pullets - #18 might also be a pullet (the comb is a little pronounced, but not too big and the coloring doesn't look rooish yet). The rest all look like definite roos. An update would be great :)

any thought on gender of our ee mix

I'm leaning towards a roo also, based on the red splashes of coloring on the feathers, but a better/clearer pic would help.

Could someone please tell me what breed is this???

My guess would be an Easter Egger. This photo is of one of my Easter Egger bantams with a silver duckwing pattern - she doesn't have a beard, but does lay blue eggs. This pullet has green legs, but many of my Easter Eggers have dark legs like your chick.

urgent I wormed my silkie today and now she is Gasping

I lost a hen after deworming with Valbazen. The entire flock was dewormed in the morning and that evening, she started acting ill - a few hours later she died. The rest of the flock was fine and has been dewormed again with no problems. Best we could figure is maybe she was allergic to it or...

Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Exactly - I have 2 Splash EEs also and even a silver (although the silver is lacking muffs and a beard), but besides meeting the SOP, an Ameraucana must also 'breed true' to be a true Ameraucana. Just2Rosy -- I probably would try testing her out, especially since she lays such pretty blue...

    Guarantee pullets????? *PIC heavy*

They all look like pullets to me, including the welsummer - combs are very small and the Welsummer is colored like a female.

Thank you - she is a real sweetheart too.

Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Hi Candace - I have a few Ameraucana hens, which I hatched from eggs and also have Easter Eggers, which I love. My blue bantam Easter Egger (see below) is an accepted Ameraucana color, has slate legs, a pea comb, beard and muffs, lays blue (not green) eggs, but she is still considered an Easter...

Please let Snowy be a girl.

I think you've sexed them all correctly and Snowy looks like a pullet to me.
