why do my chickens jump on a roost and they wipe there beak across the roost or any kind of board what is that mean....

I have pitbulls and both of my dogs will not get fat for anything... one of them is about a year and 6 mths old ...and the other one is about 3 or 4 years old ... ive been feeding them gravy train..and alpo... so is there something else i can add in like eggs or something to help them get fat...

I am just curious as to why they do this... When i give my ducks fresh water my drake and one of my hens will get in the water and they will splash and all that good stuff. But after a few minutes she lays down flat all stretched out in the water and today she sis it on the ground and just...
