Discussing the same hen in my previous posts, we gave her some Tylan tonight to treat her respiratory issues. As I was going to inject into her breast, I noticed her skin had lots of yellow crust on it at her the base of her feathers. We have already checked her for mites, and she has been...
I have a chicken who has been struggling for weeks. I recently made a post about her, but her symptoms are: weakness in legs, light crop, mucus/drainage from nose, and struggle balancing. We debated just putting her down but she is still very responsive and we hate to if we don’t have to. The...
She seems much better today. Still lethargic, but is walking around with others, eating/drinking. We are keeping a close eye on her and she is sleeping in her own pen.
We have a speckled sussex who has been acting weird for a few weeks. She hasn’t been showing many symptoms, but she has been distancing herself and changing her sleeping spots. Her wings have been a little droopy as well. Today we went down to their pen to find her laying down & the other hens...
We woke up to 3 little babies running around, game hen and silkie mix. The mama seems to know what she’s doing, however we are concerned whether or not we need to step in. Should we keep babies with mama seperate with chick starter and water… or let her stay out with them and do their thing? I...
We didn’t see any “wound” necessarily, we did treat it with antibiotics. The only thing showing was a little blood and the green, which I assumed was bruising. Her wing seems to be getting worse. I will get pictures tomorrow. She is walking around and eating/drinking just fine, she just trips on...
Update: Her wing is slightly green in the armpit and when you lift it there is a very strong smell. I'm not sure what else to do for her. Her wings are continuing to droop and she refuses to keep it wrapped. She is eating and drinking fine, she is separated from the flock. She isn't disoriented...
The wrap is only on there to keep her wings by her side! We did not have it on her while she was around other chickens, only when she’s by herself. We will make sure to do all of that, thank you so much.
We have a game hen who has recently been having wing issues, resulting in mobility problems. We have been treating the wing as best as we can, however today we went down and one of the other hens had got to her. Her skin is literally peeled back on her head and her face is pretty tore up. We...
I don't have a video. This has been going on for months but within the last week she has been distant, and as of today she is lethargic and wont move. She is breathing but refuses to get up. No idea what's going on :(
Our chicken has been having “hiccups” for a few months. We checked her for gapeworm and saw nothing so we assumed she’s ok. Any idea what’s going on???
Found her in the same position as yesterday. Thinking she keeps getting flipped over and doesn’t know how to get up? Legs and neck are working perfectly fine.
It was late and dark while we were figuring all of this out so we will definitely treat it in the morning. I’ll make sure we use that, thank you so much! We have silkie roosters.
