It is much more satisfying, when you get good service, to call for a manager. Tell a manager what good service you got from an employee. The look of shock on both their faces, because they were expecting otherwise, is well worth the effort. Takes a few minutes of your time to make someone's day.

I would never do that. I just smile, nod, and silently respond. In my perfect world, everyone would have to spend some time working in the service industry. There would be more appreciation for the conditions, the variety of customers you have to be polite to, and the pay.

I'm getting really tired of some overly cheerful clerk telling me to, "have a good one" I've come pretty close to turning on them to say, "have a good what? "A nap because I'm old", or "A good xxxx" just to see the shock on their face.

I've been concerned about the lack of emphasis/lost marks/etc when it comes to due dates. I believe it is teaching the wrong thing. Not many bosses are going to put up with employees who don't get things done on time.

Also for contractors and service people, saying you will be at my place some time tomorrow or this week is not good enough. If you can't organize your schedule better than that what is the quality of your work going to be. I get that stuff happens so a couple of hour range is very acceptable...
