Maybe.... That chest pattern on a spitz would be pretty though

My guess is maybe mahogany? I know that you can get gold from red for wyandottea, maybe it's like that. I wonder if they'll look like my pheonix does

Here's one of the cockerels from my spitz hens from this year. They're the only ones I have (besides two of their daughters) that can pass along crests and V combs, so I know who they're out of at least

I got mine from Hoovers. Would they win APA shows? No. Would they do well for more fun/lenient showing? Probably. Mine do quite well in their flock, and they make stunning mixed babies constantly

I've noticed a lot of people have hens with spurs for this breed. Interesting

My girl is still brooding. I've given her this last egg chance. If the egg or chick doesn't make it, I'm breaking her. I've never had a bird nest this long and I don't want her to go too far. Here are the 5 mixes I got though to hatch in may. I know I have 2 males (both the blues) and 1 female...

That one is almost certainly a boy which means an unfortunate no to keeping since I'm up to like 30 males already. Planing to keep at least one sister with that comb though

Kinda. He's got skimpy leg feathering and small muffs

The dad is half standard ameraucana and half bantam cochin. Mama is the spitzhauben

I have one trying (and currently really kinda failing 😤) to brood. Hatched 4 mixes though. 1 or 2 with tlfreathered legs, 2 with noticeable crests, 1 more possibly and 1 or 2, maybe 3 with muffs Look at this comb 😂

I have 4 or 5 fertile of my clutch from my broody, which are either Spitz crosses or nothing like spitz crosses

One of my gals tried 2x to be broody before deciding it wasn't for her. Lost another broody to an in-flock attack so I have what eggs she was sitting on in my incubator hopefully growing. They're all either from the broody before she sat or from the spitzhaubens

I'll have to get a picture later, my cross chick never got a crest. She's an exact clone of her half sister and my mom is convinced that half sister is actually her mom XD

Thanks. Hoping it's a little girl since I'm not keeping any sons from this male

    Spitzhaubens

My gals started to lay regularly just in time for winter to stop them😑 And it appears my little mix will not have a crest of any type. But they're a great flyer. That picture is 12 feet up from their original nest and they were the first baby to join mama at about 7 weeks

There's always hope. I've had hens go missing and occasionally the male for a day as well, apparently they don't trust me around their nests anymore. Can't blame them
