@holm23 Those dummies who sleep on the floor are more prone to frostbite because the floor is usually frozen. When they are on the roost, their feathers keep them covered and warm. I have some like that, or have, I should say.
By the way, yes, everyone, I am still kicking around ;) Hi...
Hello all you crazy Minnesota Chickeners!
Lots of family stuff has been going on and just couldn't catch up and join back in over the last few weeks.
I hope you are all doing well and your birds are too.
I just want to take a moment now to say Happy Holidays to you all and may your New Year...
Too much going on the last few days to try catching up. I just wanted to say that I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and that you all had time to relax and enjoy time with your loved ones!
I am less than an hour from Kloppers, we got about a half inch after it rained/sleeted about all day yesterday. The ice on the stoop was bad yesterday but haven't been out yet to see what it is like for walking on. The patio is still warm enough to melt most of what fell on it. It is good...
You can get one online for it, I think they are pretty cheap. However, if you have a good hygrometer to use with it and keep on eye on it, then you should still get a decent hatch.
Here's another
Using a paintbrush works too, like doing artwork, not 4" ones used to paint siding
One of the things I love about Seed Savers, it tells how to save seeds on most of their seed packets! I get most of my seed stock from them and have for several years now.
It depends on what line or strain they come from. I have the same impression locked in my innards from a childhood of getting attacked by RIR roosters from the hatcheries. I have never desired to have them here. However, my mature self who has researched plenty on chickens knows that a...
If you control the temp and humidity well on the Hova. I have had mixed results with those and they are a PITA to get the humidity right once the hatch begins and adds moisture from the chicks. Does yours have a fan in it?

If it runs, it is likely worth a lot more than that! You can run a hatching tray in the bottom of it, but it is best to hatch separate with higher humidity in another unit.
Foaming in the eyes is pretty common in Cornish when they get stressed by weather, I would say yes to the VetRX though. I use Thieve's oil spray on them when I see that on birds. Just don't get it in the eyes if you can help it.
@KlopKlop Just saw this display in HyVee last night. I had to take a picture and chuckle. Maybe there is another plant elsewhere? I should have looked at the label to see where they showed it came from.
I hope this isn't too soon, Ralphie, but most of us have had our experience meeting up...
Sorry to hear about the stubs, you do have to look really close between the toes. Pluck them before the show a couple of days if you do find any. Yeah, I know, faking. I have had enough judges tell me just what I said, so I won't get too uppity and by the book ;)
Nope too much going on at...
Festal is still a brand I see around, or at least it was carried buy ShurFine stores last I checked. It gave the pies a green look after cooked though and weren't very appetizing to many we tried to sell pies to in a 4-H fund raiser. I froze plenty last year for us from my Winter Deluxe I grew...
