    Here is my pool brooder. I wired chicken wire around it which has kept them in so far. I have 11 chicks which are 3 1/2 weeks old now. I have laid a piece of wire across the top too as they are jumping quite a bit. This is my first time. They are fun to watch grow.

    Yes there is a clock in it. Lol. They like watching the second hand and I think the ticking might sooth them. It was my husband's idea.

    Maybe the chick is bored? Maybe something else in the brooder might help like a small mirror or a clock? To the person who said their chick was pecking out morse code night and day.

    Here is a pic of my new brooder. It is located in the garage which is heated at only about 13C. Note the heat lamp hanging over one end.

    The bales sound like a good idea once I move them into our carriage house. I was trying to figure out how to enclose only one quarter of the building for them without going into a major construction job of building walls.
