No, not a mistake. Wheaten, blue wheaten and splash wheaten are kept in the same breeding pens. Blue wheaten X blue wheaten produce 50% blue wheaten, 25% wheaten and 25% splash wheaten.
He looked different because he was a splash wheaten. Wheaten x Splash Wheaten = 100% Blue Wheaten.
I love my Ameraucanas! Other breeds have come and gone, but the Ameraucanas have continued to be my favorites. I have been raising them for over 5 years now.
I would be happy to send you eggs.
So far the chicks from my test hatch are looking good. I need to get the person who has them send updated pictures. Out of the 3 she ended up with two cockerels and one pullet.
Thank-you. The two pullets in the center of the group are out of MrsBachbach's eggs. The hen in the front is one of mine that is Paul Smith x Pips&Peeps breeding. The 2 roosters are Smith/Pips&Peeps x Cree.
Thank-you. Good luck with getting your BW rooster.
Yes, you have been hit harder than...
Thanks, MrsBachbach That means a lot coming from you!
Here is my Avatar for better viewing. Your 2 gorgeous girls are facing each other in the center of the picture.
My original wheaten/ blue wheaten Ameraucanas came as chicks and hatching eggs from Paul Smith and Pips&Peeps. I favored Pips&Peep's roosters and Paul Smith's hens. The combo produced some awesome babies! In 2014 I added a pure Cree line with super nice egg color. The birds themselves suffered...
I have had Ameraucanas for over 5 years and they still remain my favorite breed. My wheaten/blue wheatens are beautiful, friendly and confident birds that lay well. I can't imagine not getting those beautiful blue eggs. They look so pretty in the cartons with my chocolate colored Marans eggs.
I have 3 pens with 2 for pure Ameraucanas,1 for pure Marans in with Ameraucana hens that don't make the cut and are used to make OE. Easy to distinguish pure and crosses by the egg color. All chocolate eggs are pure Marans and the blue eggs collected from the Marans pen are the cross for OE.
I created some gorgeous OEs crossing my Golden Cuckoo Marans rooster over blue wheaten Ameraucana hens.
It is my understanding that for the best olive colored eggs that you should use a Marans rooster hatched from the darkest eggs over blue egg laying hens.
Of the "bantam" breeds, d'Anvers and Silkies are my favorites. Of the Large fowl breeds, Ameraucanas are my favorites. I have been breeding them for 4+ years and the wheaten/blue wheatens remain my favorites.
I love my wheaten/blue wheaten Ameraucanas. Of all the breeds I have owned, the Ameraucanas have been my favorites. They are beautiful and friendly and I adore their fuzzy faces. My original birds were from Paul Smith and Pips&Peeps and I added Cree and Meredith lines recently.
I would get...
Awww, wishful thinking. Those dark patchwork feathers always mean males. Wheaten/blue wheaten pullets are always solid cream/gold at the back of the neck and shoulders when their feathers start coming in.
These are blue wheatens, but still you can see the difference in the pullets vs...
