    The Honey Factory

Look I replied at any area where the poster ASKED for help. I only replied where he'd freshly asked for new ideas. And its reasonable to post then. But look at all you guys ganging up on me. Sad. I regret getting involved with this forum.

That is ridiculous. There are 117 pages in that thread. And you guys expecting that someone has to read through that many pages before they 'have the right' to post will drive people away from this site. I guess its time to look for a new forum.

So you want me to dig through 117 pages? I have no idea which page he posted that on. This is why people get frustrated at beeks.

But for 600 dollars...the thing is when you see a huge price like that, in your mind aren't you also thinking, dang I could buy 5 bee packages or nucs instead of that, and for that same amount! Right? That's why its hard to justify even if it didn't cost that much.

    The Honey Factory

Nothing wrong with that. Many youtube beeks don't get a lot of honey. Some of them their product is sharing knowledge. And some focus on selling nucs and queens instead of going big on honey. And expand the apiary! And I like just hearing about all of them.

So...what do people do before they can afford all these cool toys for honey extraction?

This idea does work for a lot of people. But people usually need to put bee escapes up over the top entrances during dearths and robbing season.

Wow interesting. You know you are one of the first people I've seen talking about openly which months the bees are most likely to starve out in. Are there other months that are also bad for starvation for bees also besides March? To the other guy, I would say that the tactic of buying bees...

Given that they gorge on honey to survive the swarming process, yes it wouldn't be surprising that swarming would kill your honey production :S Hope it didn't go too badly for you.

    The Honey Factory

Hope you can post a follow up on this later!~ I hope it works out for you! I did see some videos on the internet with people experimenting with 2 frame nucs through the winter, and they did get them to survive! So its possible~! And a fun experiment! I could talk about bees all day!

So I'm curious...this was yesterday posted... Does this mean you guys have and can order nucs and hives etc when NOT in spring? If I could order bees now and get them before Spring I'd sort of bee interested in experiementing with that, as it gives the queen overwintering experience. (In my...

So about your comment that you think a lot of the package and replacement bees are coming from CA... Yes that's true. From Oliveiras specifically. And many people even say they are carrying and selling through Oliveiras like a middleman. I keep hearing this Oliveiras name everywhere regarding...

    The Honey Factory

If you requeen before spring you'd have more experience with an overwintered queen though... some people pay extra for that.

    The Honey Factory

People say that you can change a lot with a new queen. Its worth a try. It wouldn't be impossible for Africanized bees to be what you have. And I keep thinking this the more I think about it. Non-Africanized bees should NOT chase you very far. But supposedly people who do videos on...

    The Honey Factory

I'd seen some videos of Youtube videos where a guy shows off a really, really mean riled up Russian hive. But I've also seen some videos where people show how they are manageable and how much they love their Russian bees, and what great honey producers they are. I find myself pretty curious...

    The Honey Factory

Sounds like you need to requeen with something very gentle. What kind of bees do you 'think' those are? Supposedly killer bees, will chase you that far. But I've never heard of them being that far north. O.o (They are supposed to stay below the mason dixon line.
