We were going to use some malay in our orloff breeding program, had a great pair, but they just never produced for us. Was sad too were great birds. Orloffs were cool as well.
"Chu-shamo is just a lighter weight-class of the O-Shamo. In type they should completely resemble the big O-Shamo." Straight out of "Oreintal Gamefowl" by Horst W. Schmudde.
Depends on the line, they are mostly the big shamo type birds though. There are smaller, asil type lines from brazil too. The most common is the bigger ones it seems.
Orchard Poultry Farm ("shamasil") would be a good contact (check out his website). I had shamo from him, were nice birds. He might know of more local breeders to you as well... I am realll close to Missouri, but the shamo were one of the breeds that was sent to out of state friends when I had...

Hatcheries make money by selling numbers of chicks compared to quality of chicks. Now don't get me wrong, many hatcheries sell very good, very hardy birds, just if you are looking for something along the lines of pure bred orientals, you will need to find an individual breeder and get quality...
He will be 1 this spring, these usually get in the 7 pound range, but some do get a bit heavier. They are right on the border between the 2 sizes of asil. So they would be a BIG reza or a small kulang in description :).
