I've recently introduced Blue Jersey Giant hens into my flock which was previously all Black. Does anyone know what the coloring of the chicks from the Black roo and Blue hen would be? And also, would they be visibly different at hatch so I could tell the pure blacks from the black/blues?

They will very from a dark grey to pale grey/yellow.

Black chicks will be black with some white on the underside. You can see the comparison here.

Thank you for the pics! I've hatched a lot of the blacks, so I'm glad to see they can be determined early for the blues!
Where you'll run into issues is if you want to determine blue from splash early on. That line is a little harder to determine.

These three chicks all ended up as splashes.

But only 2 of these chicks did.

I've found the opposite true.
For me splash are very easy to tell but some blues are so dark that they can be mistaken as black.
Silkies are notorious for this. I've raised a black trio once and when I started hatching chicks I was getting blacks, blues and whites.
Ended up being a black rooster that carried recessive white and a blue and a black hen with one or both carrying white.
