Speck and friends spent most of the day outside. I’m hoping to encourage Speck to move around more to build strength. I think Speck was walking better. It was a warm sunny day, but I brought them back inside this evening with their heat plate.

Here are the other 12 ducklings. They are getting huge and look like ducks!! Div is the one with the yellow chest. In the right corner. Goldie is the white duckling on the left. Goldie’s legs are perfect now

They are all so precious. They really do grow like weeds don't they? I bet they enjoy being outside I know mine sure do.
They all look great and exercise should really help Speck gain strength. I can even tell your 2 new little ones have grown.

They do enjoy being outside and Speck’s legs already seem straighter. They spent all day outside and I brought them in for the night again this evening. I want to reduce their heat, but Speck seems to get cold more easily so they still have their heat plate.

I’m thinking of naming the new babies Dusk and Dawn, or Chickpea and Cherry Tomato😂 Haven’t decided yet.

Cute names.
It's wonderful how Speck is thriving now. Does she like her 2 new buddies?
Yes, Speck likes them. They all nap together and there’s no squabbling at all. The new babies love swimming and Speck still hates swimming, so she thinks they are crazy when they play in the water.

I decided to name the chocolate colored duckling Cherry Tomato (probably call her Cherry mostly) and the lighter one is Chickpea

Speck is 4 weeks old now and finally getting some pin feathers. I thought Speck would be blue/grey but so far the pin feathers appear reddish brown!

Speck is doing pretty well. The only problem I’m having is that Speck keeps getting dirty and sticky. Speck hates water and won’t even dunk her head under water!! So her eyes have stickiness all around them. I’ve started gently cleaning her eyes and surrounding area with saline. Hopefully this will help. Everyday I try to get Speck to swim but Speck freaks out. Speck isn’t well oiled like the others either.

I moved the babies into a new daytime pen so they can have more space. They love it. I’ll work on moving them into a bigger area within my duck yard sometime soon, but for now I prefer to have Speck close by

That is a nice space for them. If you put Speck into water she doesn't like it? Even if the other 2 are in with her? If you get her wet will she preen? you may have to wet her down and let her preen so she gets her feathers oiled. She might not like it but she needs to learn to preen and get her feathers oiled. They sure are pretty.

Yes, if I put her in water she just cries and tries to escape. I did have a slightly better attempt today. After crying for a bit she calmed down and started to dabble at the water - but then quickly cried again so I took her out.
She does preen if she is wet but I’m worried she can’t reach her oil gland. At least I never see her try. Just preens her chest and wings.
