Dust Bath- Disappeared?

Gave my chicks (3.5 weeks old) their first dust bath in a smaller shallow container. After about 15 hours the soil/DE/herbs are completely gone!! I know the dirt can come out while their cleaning and probably because of how shallow it is but I don’t even see any dirt on the bedding of their brooder….so confused lol. I’m not sure if they ate it or what but I want to make sure nothing will harm them.

Almost certainly they kicked it out while they were having fun.

What sort of bedding are you using?

I'd expect dry dirt to disappear into shavings.

I think I just asked a similar question because mine lasted a bout 18 hrs and I'm pretty sure they ate a lot of it.
