Mine if I don’t tighten the black top very tight the lack of suction makes the waterer constantly overflow or drain to half full immediatelyWhy would you tighten it? It doesn't need to be wrenched shut to work.

Now I'm checking out baby pig waterers, love this siteAfter fussing around with 'chicken specific waterers' I got fedup with them, and started using heated dog bowls in the winter and baby pig waterers in the warmer months.
They can get crazy tight even when they are greased with vegetable oil or Vaseline. I put the handle over a t post pounded in the ground and turn the waterer. Works pretty good.Really dumb question, but any tips or tricks on getting this type of waterer open?
Maybe you got a bad one. I have one and it works just fine.Mine if I don’t tighten the black top very tight the lack of suction makes the waterer constantly overflow or drain to half full immediately

Well I’ve been experimenting with closing it less tightly with some success, also I’m thinking maybe it needs to wear in a bitI have one ...I hate it. The only time it gets opened to refill is when my husband does it. I would never purchase another!
