YEah the texture sure looks like paper wasp nests, but if termites your should see a few of those white buggers running around.

I don't know a thing about trees.
Is this a maple tree?

I think termites are white aren't they?
There is a million of these ant looking things on it.


Also I'm just now noticing all the green stuff everywhere... Is that a fungus?

Show us a better picture of the leaves.

Yes, it looks like termites. Yes, subterranean termites are white and the chickens love them more than fire ants. Formosan termites are tan and worse than subterranean.

Ants will take over a termite colony.

Green stuff is algae or moss or lichen. Grows everywhere in this humidity. It is sequestering carbon, so don't kill it.

But the bugs that are on it are red. They are not white.
