Dh tries to weed eat around the garden but there are so many vines with the cuc's, cantaloupe, watermelon and now the pumpkin it makes it difficult to keep the grass out of the way.
Have you ever thought about growing them on a trellis? Then you could get the vines up off the ground and even grow other things right up against them on the south side.

just reading to keep up :caf I kinda slept in lot's going on @getaclue 5 of them wow your great... I do think I would probably not want to go in a home where there is a sinkhole...
@pam s if you think you have bumblefoot there is a wealth of pages and data on bumblefoot right here on byc

would think the weight of developing watermelons would pull the vines off a tree
Yep...you need to put the fruit in slings.

Which can be annoying since if you don't watch them as they grow, they can fall out of the sling and pull down the vine, or break off...yada yada.

If you baby your plants, and give them a thorough look every day...then it will work.

Heck, i thought they would eat the pumpkin seeds and all! How did i know those sows knew how to garden? If i knew that , i would have put them to work sooner!
Pigs are very picky eaters. Here in the delta, someone thought it would be a good idea to put pigs on an island to remove the vegetation. It did not work! The pigs refuse to eat a lot of the plants on that island. people feed them now so that they do not starve

Current articles say a group removed the pigs against the owners will
